Capacity building among Mwakirunge community residents
Mwakirunge community has suffered heavily in the hands of successive governments. They have been taken advantaged of because of their high level of illiteracy and lack of knowledge of their rights and fundamental freedoms as enshrined in chapter four of the Kenya constitution (Bill of Rights).
As a community that Ainea Ragen has interacted with for over three years, had an engagement with and presently representing in court on the Mwakirunge Dumpsite case ref. ELC PET E017 OF 2022, we plan to engage with this community further in basic legal education with main focus on the Bill of rights (paralegal empowerment).
We plan to train leaders from this community to go out and train others. By this we will be able to create awareness among the community members. This will help protect them from further or future violations of their rights. An informed community is a productive community.
